Conheça o curador italiano, baseado em Nova York, Alessandro Facente, o primeiro residente do programa get2gether, promovido pelo Ateliê397, com apoio da Secretaria da Cultura do Estado de São Paulo, via ProaC.
Alessandro Facente (Anzio, Itália, 1982) é crítico de arte e curador independente, mora em Nova York e trabalha entre Estados Unidos, Marrocos e Europa. Sua pesquisa se centra no cruzamento e interação entre crítica e curadoria por meio do acompanhamento da prática artística desde o conceito até a criação final do trabalho de arte, como um “embedded curator”. Atualmente, ele está dando forma a esse mecanismo de relação e dinâmica artista-curador através de uma teoria que ele chama de curaticism, uma atitude contínua em direção à curadoria na qual o papel do curador é o de descobrir “criticamente” as ideias e pensamentos resultantes de um fenômeno visual em processo e “curatorialmente” posicionar este mesmo fenômeno dentro de um cenário contemporâneo (seja social, político, urbano, natural etc.) igualmente em processo.
Facente tem curado exposições individuais, coletivas e palestras em espaços independentes, fundações, galerias e museus, incluindo a 5a Bienal de Marrakech, O Instituto Italiano de Cultura em Nova York, TranzitDisplay em Praga, RU (Residency Unlimited), Cuchifritos Gallery + Project Space em Nova York, HIAP em Helsinki. Seus artigos, entrevistas e ensaios tem sido publicados em revistas como Artribune, revista DROME, Exibart, TemporaryArtReview e DOMUS.
O Episódio São Paulo – The GAM#6 [curaticism]
Durante sua estadia no Ateliê397, Alessandro Facente continuará sua pesquisa The GAM [curaticism] através de um envolvimento ativo com artistas e curadores locais, seguindo suas práticas de perto por meio de visitas à ateliês, escrita, entrevistas e conversas diárias e semanais com o objetivo de se aprofundar em seus trabalhos. Como resultado final, será organizada uma exposição aberta ao público, no espaço expositivo do Ateliê397, no formato Spoken-Word (painel de discussão), chamada “O Episódio São Paulo – The GAM [curaticism” da qual participarão Facente, artistas selecionados e um curador local.
O Episódio São Paulo – The GAM#6 [curaticism] se centrará na cena artística brasileira através da observação da produção artística e curatorial de São Paulo com o objetivo de debater como esta produção enriquece o cenário local, seus espaços e comunidades.
Alessandro Facente (Anzio, Italy, 1982) is an art critic and independent curator who lives in New York and works between USA, Morocco and Europe. His research focuses on the crossover and interplay of art criticism and curatorship by following the artist’s practice from the concept to the final creation of the piece of art, as ’embedded curator’. Currently he is shaping this mechanism of artist-curator relationship and dynamic through a theory that he refers to as ‘curaticism’, an ongoing attitude towards curating in which the curator’s role is played to ‘critically’ uncover the ideas and thoughts resulting from an in-progress visual phenomenon and ‘curatorially’ position the same phenomenon within an equally in-progress contemporary scenario (be it social, political, urban, natural etc.).
Facente has curated solo, group exhibitions and talks in non-profit spaces, foundations, galleries and museums, including the 5th Marrakech Biennale, Italian Institute of Culture in New York, TranzitDisplay in Prague, RU (Residency Unlimited), Cuchifritos Gallery + Project Space in New York, HIAP in Helsinki. His articles, interviews and essays have appeared in art magazines such as Artribune, DROME magazine, Exibart, TemporaryArtReview and DOMUS.
The São Paulo Episode – The GAM#6 [curaticism]
During his stay at Ateliê397, Alessandro Facente will be pursuing his ongoing research The GAM [curaticism] by actively engaging with both local artists and curators, following their practices closely through an intense period of studio visits, writing, interviews and conversations on a daily/weekly basis aiming at digging deep into their work. As a final outcome in addition to these, 1 Spoken-Word Exhibition (panel discussion) named The São Paulo Episode – The GAM#6 [curaticism] between Facente, selected local artists and a local curator will be organized and opened to the public at the Ateliê397 exhibition space towards the end of his residency.
The São Paulo Episode – The GAM#6 [curaticism] will focus on Brazilian art scene through a specific observation of the São Paulo production both artistic and curatorial with the aim to debate how this production is enriching the local scenario, its spaces and communities.
