Contato-Deriva Um prenúncio de chuva

No dia 15 de novembro, aqui no Ateliê397, às 14h, ocorreu a abertura da exposição Contato-Deriva Um prenúncio de chuva do coletivo Vozes Agudas. Ao longo da abertura, ocorrerá uma roda de conversa com as curadoras Sophia Faustino e Thais Rivitti e com as artistas Licida Vidal, Melissa Baltazar e Raquel Nava, acompanhada de comes e bebes. 

Licida Vidal, Melissa Baltazar e Raquel Nava são as três artistas visuais que integram o coletivo feminista Vozes Agudas. Elas formam contato-deriva, uma exposição que pode ser entendida como um prenúncio de chuva: a ventania que impulsionará transformações futuras. Esses ventos sopram semanalmente nos encontros do grupo e se conectam à prática política dos coletivos feministas, atuantes desde a década de 1970, que cria espaços para o exercício da escuta, formando redes de trabalho e propondo ações afirmativas. Além de ser um espaço de articulação e de reflexão, o Vozes Agudas é uma mobilização permanente em torno das questões de gênero que atravessam nossas práticas profissionais e vivências pessoais.

Por isso, as alianças são a corrente de vento que conduz contato-deriva. Abrimos a experiência de convívio do coletivo através das obras de Licida, Melissa e Raquel para levantar índices de como é possível ler e interagir com as mudanças do tempo e com as tantas formas de violência que nos cercam e cerceiam. Aqui, a convivência surge como um alento que impacta as experiências, pensamentos e produções, formando contatos fortalecedores e inspiradores. 

Enquanto Cooperativas, de Licida Vidal, propõe sistemas interconectados e interdependentes, mobilizando-nos a pensar e aplicar outras maneiras de existir em um mundo de cercamentos, os trabalhos de Raquel Nava convocam os fluidos e indagam sobre as relações de permanência, as formas como lidamos com o que é natural e o que é artificial, além de criar combinações tensas, como o contato entre um bem-te-vi e uma cobra prestes a dar o bote. Os animais, presentificados em esculturas ou trabalhados pelas técnicas de taxidermia, parecem desordenar o tempo, ao passo que a estrutura projetada por Licida flui em redes de eletricidade e irrigação, entre um passado sustentado pelos pés de enxada caipira e a expectativa da brotação. Já a série sonhei penhascos, de Melissa Baltazar, apresenta o instante fresco da carne abatida para consumo, em que o vermelho-sangue que preenche os músculos ainda parece pulsar. Os detalhes que formam os animais abertos são captados minuciosamente pela artista, num olhar que mistura desejo e fascínio. O óleo da tinta, que escapa pelo cetim, emoldura essas entranhas ecoadas também na paisagem de Beberibe, formada por falésias vivas e dunas móveis, onde a mudança do tempo adquire, ao mesmo tempo, dimensões geológicas e extremamente pessoais, tendo em vista os vínculos criados pelo coletivo, que se estreitaram naquela praia do Ceará. 

Criar coletivamente vem do desejo de criar um outro mundo, mas também de dividir a criação desse mundo. De estar à deriva, de lançar-se ao desconhecido, mas também de insistir no contato e na troca. De tensionar-se e enveredar-se para elaborar novas relações. Um empreendimento mútuo e em expansão. Como quando a primavera chega, sopra as sementes e deixa o dia “bonito pra chover”.

Além disso, no dia 29 de novembro, o Ateliê397 organizou a ativação da exposição Contato-Deriva em uma oficina de escrita criativa guiada por Sophia Faustino e uma roda de conversa com integrantes do Movimento de Mulheres Olga Benário. A Oficina de escrita coletiva investigará formas de escrever a partir da convivência entre pessoas e entre as obras das artistas presentes em Contato-Deriva. Serão propostos exercícios de escrita e de observação para provocar a experimentação da palavra como forma e outras maneiras de entrar em contato com a exposição. Pedimos que, por favor, tragam papel e caneta. A fala do Movimento de Mulheres Olga Benário será feita por Giovanna Lie, coordenadora do núcleo Ipiranga (SP), e pretende apresentar o trabalho de apoio a luta por políticas públicas que combatam a violência contra a mulher e organização de casas que abrigam mulheres vítimas de violência que o movimento tem feito ao longo de seus 14 anos de existência.

On November 15th, 2pm, at Ateliê397, the opening of the exhibition Contato-Deriva: Uma premonição de chuva by the collective Vozes Agudas took place. The opening, consisted in a roundtable discussion with the curators Sophia Faustino and Thais Rivitti and the artists Licida Vidal, Melissa Baltazar, and Raquel Nava, accompanied by food and drinks.

Licida Vidal, Melissa Baltazar, and Raquel Nava are the three visual artists who make up the feminist collective Vozes Agudas. Together, they form Contato-Deriva, an exhibition that can be understood as a premonition of rain: the gusts of wind that will propel future transformations. These winds blow weekly in the group’s meetings and connect to the active political practice of feminist collectives since the 1970s, which create spaces for the exercise of listening, forming work networks and proposing affirmative action. In addition to being a space for articulation and reflection, Vozes Agudas is a permanent mobilization around gender issues that cut across our professional practices and personal experiences.

For this reason, alliances are the current of wind that guides Contato-Deriva. We open the collective’s experience of coexistence through the works of Licida, Melissa, and Raquel to point toward how it is possible to read and interact with changes in the weather and with the many forms of violence that surround and constrain us. Here, coexistence emerges as a relief that impacts experiences, thoughts, and productions, forming strengthening and inspiring connections.

While Cooperativas, by Licida Vidal, proposes interconnected and interdependent systems that prompt us to think about and apply other ways of existing in a world of enclosures, the works of Raquel Nava summon fluids and question relationships of permanence, the ways we deal with what is natural and what is artificial, as well as create tense combinations, such as the contact between a great kiskadee and a snake ready to strike. The animals, made present in sculptures or worked through taxidermy techniques, seem to disrupt time, while the structure designed by Licida flows through networks of electricity and irrigation, between a past sustained by the feet of a country hoes and the expectation of sprouting. Meanwhile, the series sonhei penhascos, by Melissa Baltazar, presents the fresh instant of meat slaughtered for consumption, in which the blood-red filling the muscles still seems to pulse. The details that form the opened animals are meticulously captured by the artist, in a gaze that blends desire and fascination. The oil paint, which seeps through the satin, frames these entrails that also echo in the landscape of Beberibe, made up of living cliffs and shifting dunes, where the changing weather acquires both geological and deeply personal dimensions, considering the bonds created by the collective that were strengthened on that beach in Ceará.

Creating collectively stems from the desire to create another world, but also from sharing the creation of this world. From being adrift, from throwing oneself into the unknown, but also from insisting on contact and exchange. From tensioning and venturing in order to develop new relationships. A mutual and expanding endeavor. Like when spring arrives, blows the seeds, and leaves the day “beautiful for rain.”

In addition, on November 29th, Ateliê397 organized the activation of the exhibition in a creative writing workshop guided by Sophia Faustino and a roundtable discussion with members of the Olga Benário Women’s Movement. The collective writing workshop will investigate ways of writing based on the coexistence between people and between the works of the artists featured in Contato-Deriva. Writing and observation exercises will be proposed to provoke the experimentation of the word as form and other ways of coming into contact with the exhibition. Please bring paper and pen. The talk by the Olga Benário Women’s Movement will be given by Giovanna Lie, coordinator of the Ipiranga (SP) chapter, and aims to present the work carried out by the movement over its 14 years of existence in supporting the struggle for public policies that combat violence against women and in organizing shelters for women victims of domestic violence.
